Men’s Chelsea boots: timeless and elegant
Men’s Chelsea boots are a must-have in any man’s wardrobe. Combining simplicity and refinement, they perfectly adapt to all occasions, from casual outings to formal attire. At In Corio, we have reimagined this classic using premium materials and a contemporary design to meet the needs of modern men.
Why choose men’s Chelsea boots?
Chelsea boots are renowned for their sleek silhouette and versatility. Their lack of laces and side elastic panels make them easy to slip on, while still providing excellent support. Available in smooth black leather or rich brown leather, they add a touch of distinction to any outfit.
At In Corio, our men’s boots are designed to provide the perfect balance between durability and comfort. Crafted from carefully selected full-grain leathers sourced from the most prestigious tanneries, they offer exceptional quality. Each pair is the result of artisanal craftsmanship, reflecting our commitment to French elegance and attention to detail.
The flagship In Corio model
In Corio’s collection features timeless models like Henry, a premium leather Chelsea boot. Available in black, camel, and brown, it is the perfect choice for professional attire or formal events where an impeccable look is required.
How to wear your Chelsea boots
For the office: Pair your black Chelsea boots with gray wool trousers and a white shirt for a sharp business look. Smart casual style: Wear your brown Chelsea boots with raw denim and a knit sweater for an effortlessly chic weekend ensemble. Special events: Combine them with a navy or charcoal suit for a sophisticated, modern alternative to traditional lace-ups.
Caring for your boots
To preserve the shine of your leather boots, use a soft brush to gently remove dust and impurities. Apply a nourishing cream regularly to maintain flexibility and restore the leather's natural luster. We strongly recommend storing them with cedar shoe trees to maintain their shape and prevent creases from forming over time.

A Chelsea boot is chosen on three criteria: its material, its sole and the way it holds the ankle. It is then worn far more widely than you might imagine, from suit to jeans. Here is how we designed it, and how we suggest you wear it.
What is a Chelsea boot?
A Chelsea boot is a laceless ankle boot that rises just above the ankle, with an elastic gusset set into each side of the shaft: you slip it on and take it off with no effort. With no eyelets or buckle, it is the cleanest of our men's boots and ankle boots.
A Victorian invention
Its creation is attributed to Joseph Sparkes Hall, bootmaker to Queen Victoria, in the mid-19th century. He drew on a technical novelty of the time, vulcanised rubber, which at last made it possible to stitch a durable elastic band into leather.
Why "Chelsea"?
The name came much later. In the 1960s, these ankle boots became the uniform of the young Londoners who frequented King's Road, in the Chelsea district, musicians and photographers first among them.
Which Chelsea boot should you choose for your use?
The right choice depends on your main use: a leather sole for dressier outfits, a rubber sole for everyday town wear, a commando sole for winter and the countryside.
For the office and dressy occasions
Henry in black leather on a leather sole has the slimmest profile in the range: a sole that barely protrudes, smooth full-grain calf leather, discreet elastics.
For town, every day
In chocolate leather or brown suede, Henry sits on a rubber sole that grips wet pavements.
For winter and the countryside
The chocolate grained leather version is mounted on a stitched commando sole with pronounced lugs. The grain of the leather hides scuffs, and the sole grips on fallen leaves and slippery cobblestones: these are the men's Chelsea boots for weekends out of town.
| Version | Leather | Sole | For which occasions | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Henry black | Smooth full-grain calf leather | Leather, barely protruding | Suit, office, evening | €349 |
| Henry chocolate | Full-grain calf leather | Rubber | Everyday town wear, chinos, jeans | €349 |
| Henry brown suede | Water-repellent Italian velour calf leather | Rubber | Weekend, casual outfits | €349 |
| Henry chocolate grained | Grained full-grain calf leather | Commando | Winter, rain, countryside | €359 |
How to wear men's Chelsea boots?
Chelsea boots are worn with straight or slightly tapered trousers that fall over the shaft without creasing: the boot then extends the leg in one continuous line.
The right trouser length
Raw denim jeans with a clean hem, fitted chinos or flannel trousers are the safest pairings. We suggest avoiding very wide cuts, which swallow the boot, and trousers that are too short, which show the elastics as you walk.
Which colour for a first pair?
Smooth black covers the most occasions, from an anthracite suit to black jeans. Chocolate is warmer and goes with navy, grey and beige. Our article how to wear men's Chelsea boots offers more pairings, season by season.
Why are our Chelsea boots comfortable?
A Chelsea has to hold the heel without laces to compensate: its comfort therefore rests on an accurate last, a flexible construction and cushioning underfoot.
One last, one construction, one cushioning
With our lastmakers, we developed an ergonomic last, identical across all our models, which follows the curves of the foot. Blake stitched construction makes the boot flexible from the first steps, and a high-density latex foam, slipped under the leather insole, distributes your body weight between the heel, the arch and the ball of the foot. In this way, In Corio combines full-grain leather from tanneries certified by the Leather Working Group with the craftsmanship of family-run workshops in Porto.
Choosing the right size
Take your usual size. The boot should hold the heel firmly at the first fitting; the elastics relax very slightly over time, the shape stays.

How to care for your Chelsea boots?
A Chelsea boot lasts a long time with three habits: letting it rest, nourishing its leather and looking after its elastics.
The care ritual
- Slip cedar shoe trees into your boots as soon as you take them off: cedar absorbs moisture and limits creases at the instep.
- Dust smooth or grained leather with a horsehair brush, then nourish it with a cream in the shade of your boots.
- Brush suede dry with a brass brush and revive its colour with a suitable renovator.
- Clean the elastics with a barely damp cloth, with no cream or polish.

In summary
