Shoes size guide
In Corio's mission is to offer you shoes that are elegant, of course, but also comfortable. The indications given below will enable you to find the right size for your shoes easily.
SHOES
The golden rule at In Corio: Choose your usual size. We recommend selecting the size you typically wear in other brands of leather town shoes.
If you are hesitating between two half-sizes, we suggest opting for the larger one (between 38 and 38.5, select the 38.5).
If you mainly wear sneakers (such as Nike, Adidas...), as they tend to run large, choose one full size smaller for your In Corio shoes (if you wear a size 40 in Nike sneakers, choose a 39 for your In Corio classic shoes or sneakers).

WOMEN’S SIZES: THE EQUIVALENTS TO REMEMBER
At In Corio, the Italian size is the European size minus one, and the US size is the European size minus about 30.5. A few reference points for the most sought-after sizes:
- A European 38 corresponds to a US 7.5, a UK 5 and an Italian 37.
- A European 39 corresponds to a US 8.5, a UK 6 and an Italian 38.
- A European 40 corresponds to a US 9.5, a UK 6.5 and an Italian 39.
Our women’s models are offered from 35 to 42: around the average size of Frenchwomen, which is about a 38, this range covers small and large sizes alike.
HOW TO MEASURE YOUR FOOT TO FIND YOUR SIZE?
Measuring your foot lets you find your size in a few minutes: you only need to know the length of the foot, from the back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe.
- Measure preferably at the end of the day, when the foot is at its largest.
- Place the foot flat on a sheet of paper, heel against a wall, and mark the tip of the longest toe.
- Measure the distance in centimetres, for each foot: the larger measurement is the one that counts.
- Add about 1 to 1.5 cm of room, then divide the result by 0.667: this gives the approximate French size. For example, a 24 cm foot gives a size close to 38.
This calculation remains a guide: the shape of the shoe, the material and the fit matter just as much as the length.
CHOOSING YOUR SIZE ACCORDING TO THE MODEL
From one model to another, the same foot is not looking for exactly the same feeling: a lace-up shoe adjusts, a loafer moulds to the foot.
Richelieu and derby
The richelieu, with its closed lacing, suits slim feet: our Jeanne richelieu, in vegetable-tanned Italian calf leather, moulds quickly to the foot and rests on a foam insole for lasting comfort. For a wider foot or a high instep, the derby, with its open lacing, offers more ease at the same size.
Loafers
With no laces to adjust the fit, a loafer should be chosen snug at the heel, with no slipping. Its leather softens and stretches slightly over the first wears: a snug feeling when trying on is better than an overly generous fit.
Giving shoes without knowing the size
For a gift, the size usually worn in leather dress shoes remains the best guide, failing a pair to consult discreetly in the hallway. And if the size is not right, exchanges are simple from the customer account.
Once you have found the right size, a cedar shoe tree of the same size will preserve the shape of your shoes and the comfort of their fit, wear after wear.
