What is a quality leather sandal?

A quality leather sandal combines supple straps, cut from one of the different types of leather, which hold the foot without marking it, a leather insole that stays pleasant barefoot and a sturdy outsole, preferably in leather. These requirements are those of all our women's leather shoes, applied to the most open models.

Mary Janes: a name from a comic strip

The shoe with a strap over the instep that we call babies is known as a Mary Jane in English-speaking countries. The name is said to come from Mary Jane, a little heroine of an American comic strip from the early 20th century, who wore these girls' shoes. The style has since entered women's wardrobes, often raised on a heel, like our Anna Mary Janes.

The choice depends on use: a flat sandal for walking a long time, a small-heeled sandal to go from day to dinner, Mary Janes or a court shoe for dressy outfits.

Carla is a flat sandal in Italian suede, whose straps are hand-woven in our family workshop, fastened by a golden brass buckle and set on a supple leather sole. Perrine, a salome ballet flat with a delicate strap in lizard-print leather, covers more of the foot and is worn as well in summer as in mid-season.

From day to evening: Cécile and Émilie

Cécile is a strappy sandal on a 3.5 cm heel, in off-white patent leather, poppy red patent leather or golden leather. Émilie, with woven straps, sits on a 5 cm heel, in golden leather or chocolate lizard.

For dressy outfits: Anna and Silvia

Anna, Mary Janes with a 5 cm straight heel, brings a retro touch to a dress or cigarette trousers. Silvia, a slingback court shoe in black or carmine red leather, fastens with a fine adjustable strap behind the heel.

Why are our sandals comfortable?

Because a sandal holds the foot with little material: every strap, every millimetre of heel counts. We favour moderate heels, supple leathers and cushioning under the sole of the foot.

On most of our models, the leather insole rests on a comfort foam that absorbs the impact of the heel and spreads the body's weight. The leather linings prevent chafing, and the Italian leathers, supple from the first day, mould to the foot without marking it. Our ergonomic last is the same on all our models. In Corio thus combines comfort, certified leathers and craft manufacture in the Porto region, at a fair price.

How to wear and care for your leather sandals?

A leather sandal is worn with a dress, a skirt or trousers, from the office to the holidays. It lasts several summers with regular care.

From the office to the beach

Gold and off-white light up a linen dress or wide ecru trousers; poppy red wakes up a black or navy outfit; chocolate lizard and camel suede go with denim and sandy tones. For the office, Mary Janes, a flat women's loafer or a ballet flat covers more of the foot and remains more formal.

The care routine

1. Wipe the patent leather and golden leather with a soft cloth after each wear.
2. Brush Carla's suede dry, then revive its colour with a suede renovator.
3. Store your sandals away from light and heat at the end of the season.
